Re: FFG buying L5R

Its a huge pile of opinions, that forum. I liked mostly 2 of them. The one from Malasian kotei, i believe, where a uni decided , in a gesture of sportsmanship and courtesy, save a Phoenix. Even story-wise, sounds great. It shows what kind of player base we have and the great sportsmanship at the hig...

Re: FFG buying L5R

Im sort of with merlin on this. I have a box of netrunner that i dont use much. Its a game that needs some skill development, and L5R in the scene, I had no more time for a "difficult" cg. I did not like GoT, but understood that it has some appeal, and finally, im playing LotR LCG since it started a...

Re: FFG buying L5R

If anyone here is interested in seeing the in-progress L5R novel published in the interim, be sure to let FF know. Regarding the game, I am not too worried. Fantasy Flight does a good job. I think they will do good things with L5R. Will do, Spooky. Thx alot for all your (and the rest of the team's)...

Re: FFG buying L5R

Wow... I love FFG's way of treating their game, I know some AEG workers in the past have gone into FFG, so Im excited CCG-wise. Story-wise (wich is actually one of the BIG strenghts of L5R, if not the biggest) it sound troubling... On my end, you can count on any attempt to keep things going for the...

Re: [EP] Min-Hee Sensei

Yup, 5 family honor is huge for personality selection. The battle action is.... minimal is some cases and useless in others. Remenbering the old mantra of: remove from play is better then destroy, wich is better then Ranged or melees, wichis better then send home wich is better then bow. This gives ...

Re: Unicorn Previews tommorow!

We have movement in our box, so if we get a commie sensei, my hope is on recursion card draw or at least reserve, something to make extra followers useful in your hand.

Re: Unicorn Previews tommorow!

TL;DR: More Shuggies! More Maidens! Less Cops (... the police?) I think we have a strong base right now, with a few different competitive decks. Some resilience to dueling (Seal's 3+Chi) would be perfect, yes, but Im not counting on it. That -HR I really hope we get a few, it would be great and I th...

Unicorn Observer watching Lion/Scorpion coonflict: THIS FIGHT NEEDS MORE HORSES, LESS PEOPLE AND LESS BACKSTABBING. Lion Observer watching Unicorn/Phoenix conflict: This conflict needs more fighting, less talking. And wth are those tactics? Shugenja are not fair... Nor are the friggin horses on ster...

Imperial assembly fiction - Coronation. The unicorn side.

So... we are going to observe the Lion/Scorpion war while the Lion observe ours/Phoenix? Meh, not too interesting, but could be fun. Considering the small pact we had with the Scorpion (aka free border pass) this seems... weird and dangerous. Probably that pact didnt get to cannon. That would make m...

Re: Card Discussion: Intimidation Tactics

Its cool to see some open bow for follower/commander decks, but come late and generaly in a bad meta. Most miliatries run some sort of unbow to survive vs control decks,so your 3 intimidation tactics are no wrench in their engines. If you run other control elements, they are probably better then thi...

Re: Idea for a new Future Path: Embracing Mysticism

Yeah, the majoroty of the clans cant say they had done anything flashy for several years. Or at least nothing that would wide-eye new people that just learned about most of the lore. We need to dig deeper everytime to find something really cool. I suppose the age of exploration and relative peace co...

Re: New-to-Unicorn, looking for advice!

Hi there. Welcome to the herd. Coming from someone that played Unicorn for a few years, the transition from pre-Ivory Cavalry was smooth. We lost unopposed punch, but gained a more tricky movement (albeit just one per turn) that still pushes some opponents off-balance (not to mention that sweet swee...

Re: GenCon 2015 Grinder & Main Event

Great job, I second Silme on congratulating you. Needs a special personal tuning for a deck like this, awesome job with it. Also, here is the Lion you faced Round 2, in strangeassembly: "I’ve not played the matchup before, but keep my bodies honorable and take the Favor away from him before Kozan ca...

Re: So... The Colonies?

That had its value at the time and some might have changed since, I believe, with all the taking of the second city from the Madness, the Naga AND the Brother's sides fighting. Also, the imperial legions taking over our Journey's End Keep for a time should have some impact. Still, we may hold some m...

Re: So... The Colonies?

Ahahah. Well, that is a bit unexpected. So the hidden "bad stuff" was actually even worse then what we expected. Taking from that, and without ANY info from gencon (yes, me jelly of not being there) I have to think that your Open Hand Open Road never really had a chance. That is a bit disapointing a...

Re: Siege: Clan Wars - Otaku Kamoko, Seven Thunder

That would be something else entirely, not an honor deck. Meaning Zo-Sia probably would not get included and therefore, no turn 3 purchase. Possibly not even turn 4, due to the need for higher Force sooner. So I see no good reason to add her in the deck anyway. Tweaking a deck to get her reserve (ei...

Re: Siege: Clan Wars - Otaku Kamoko, Seven Thunder

Well, lets put it this way: What do you want to see on your first turn? Gold. Plenty of it. Specially if you want to bring expensive personalities into play later on. For this you need to cycle agressively to get good starting gold. So you really do not want to have any personalities up when you cyc...

Quick question: What happens to a Utaku horse when its rider dies and what happens to a Utaku Maiden when her horse dies? Do they try replacements or something?
