Re: My first 3-core tourney deck

The core of any successful Unicorn game basically boils down to: Ide Trader/Border Rider/Shinjo Outrider + Spyglass We need to look for those cards during our mulligan. If Ide Trader doesn't show, but we get one of the two drops, we need to try and find Otomo Courtier or Giver of Gifts during our mu...

Re: First Deck - Unicorn w/ Crane splash

I am wondering if you've had a chance to play some games. I think there are some Theory vs. Practice errors here that would get ironed out after a few games, but I respect your card games skills too much to simply be incredulous. I also Hard Passed on Endless Plains to begin with, but I still think ...

Re: My first 3-core tourney deck

Played in a slightly larger, 13-player tourney. Made it to Top 2. Finalist is part of my playtest group and we decided to split the prize support. Notably, I did beat two Dragon players on turn 2 and I beat the Crab player who won our first tourney mentioned above. Mirumoto's Fury (bow in general) i...

My first 3-core tourney deck

I got 2nd Place in a 3-core tourney of eight people. Not super impressive, I know, but it's a place to start if you need one. I lost to Crab in the finals. It was a close game. Province: (5) Air (1/1) Earth (1/1) Fire (1/1) Void (1/1) Water (1/1) 1x Endless Plains 1x Entrenched Position (SH) 1x Mani...

Re: (3 Core - Dragon Splash) Political Heavy World Deck

The problem with giving advice right now is that I'm not certain any of us can speak with authority. That said, I can give my humble opinion. This appears to be a fast, blitz style deck. Dragon Splash: Ancestral Daisho seems unnecessary. Unicorn basically already has Mil wrapped up. Tattooed Wandere...

Re: Some play-testing insights

I posted this in a random facebook thread, but I like what I said, so I'm transferring it here in case someone wants to rip it to shreds for mutual benefit. When asked about general Pony game flow: Buy a couple people with fate turn 1 and try to save some $$. Try to buy someone with fate every turn ...

Re: Deck critique/destruction please

Well, the link sends me to a deck with Lion splash. Other than that, it looks like a solid place to start. By that, I think the broad strokes are there. The cards that should be missing are missing. I would personally up Border Rider to 3 and Cavalry Reserves to 3. Using Cavalry Reserves to get back...

Some play-testing insights

So I played quite a few games vs. Lion today. Here is what I discovered: People: (Anyone not mentioned wasn't terribly noteworthy.) Border Rider is easily our best Dynasty card. Both of our 4-costers and our Champ are... not very good. I'm trying to be positive, but I always wished they were somethi...

I played about a dozen games with Magnificent Kimono and Pacifism from Phoenix. It felt pretty good.

Re: FFG buying L5R

Another thought that I just had: will the LCG cards be compatible with the CCG cards, or will the new format make them completely separate from each other? *Le sigh* The FFG announcement implied a complete overhaul of the rules. I can only assume they will be incompatible with old cards. This is 1....

Re: [EP] Min-Hee Sensei

I'm looking forward to trying this out. It's practically been ingrained into my playstyle to avoid opposed battles until my 3rd attack however Min-Hee changes this completely. Since you can no longer avoid opposition is Min-Hee better geared toward an offensive build or the honor switch? I've only ...

Re: [EP] Evil Portents Unicorn Previews

Dai-ketsu is a triumphant piece of cardboard. The BM isn't better than Nobunaga. Seems combo-rific and can't easily gatling gun against the (honor) decks where ranged 3 would be best. Don't know why the 6HR when 5HR would keep her leashed to Min-Hee decks without soul crushing deck restrictions. Whe...

Re: Siege: Clan Wars - Otaku Kamoko, Seven Thunder

My inner mathematician wants to over-analyze, so I'll just say that:

Yes, I think that battle action is way better and I think the GC is justified.

Re: Siege: Clan Wars - Otaku Kamoko, Seven Thunder

16 GC is not the issue. Our gold, especially corrupt gold, is quite good and can easily exceed 16 by T3. The issue is her 8HR. Much like Naleesh, in pure military, you can meet that HR and GC combined around T4 at the earliest. If we are going second, we've burned through about 50% of our dynasty by...

Re: [THA] Thunderous Acclaim Unicorn Previews

Reserve-o-rama might be interesting with Jalair? Jalendu? whatever his name is. I'm sure it would confound many unprepared opponents. Might be niche right now, because all those dudes show up to the battle nekkid which could be a serious issue. A flaw that might be outweighed by getting a Dynasty ph...
